How do I find the suitable dress for my doll ?
For Engel dolls, if you know the item number of your doll, you can select exactly fitting dresses from the same series in our catalog.
With other models, you determine the type of doll (standing doll or baby doll) and select the desired size. You determine the doll size by measuring the overall height of the doll. With soft body dolls you should make sure that the body is not squeezed together, in order to measure the correct size. The clothes fit for most dolls of the indicated size.

Care
How do I maintain rooted hair?
    1. Use a wire hair brush without burls, e.g. Engel-Dolls item no. 003197. The use of plastic brushes or combs leads to static loading of the hair.
2. Like in the case of the human hair brush through beginning from the tips. Do not use force to avoid release of the hair. Releasing of individual hair fibers is however normal.
3. The hair can be washed by rinsing it out gently under flowing cold or lukewarm water. Pay attention not to immerse the head into the water since otherwise water can penetrate into the head. Do not use shampoos or other preservative agents. Do not rub the hair too firmly.
4. For drying the hair shake the water out or press it out with a soft towel, then let the hair air dry and brush it through as described above. If during washing water ran into the eyes, put the doll with the face downwards while the hair dries so that it can run out.
5. Avoid always the contact to heat, in particular to hot water while washing, drying hood or hair dryer, heating elements, durable sun exposure, etc.. The hair consists of an artificial fiber and can stick together by too strong heat.
With attention to these points you will enjoy the beautiful hair of your Engel-Doll for a long time !
How do I maintain kanekalon hair ?

How do I maintain vinyl dolls, and/or vinyl parts ?
Vinyl parts can be wiped off with a damp cloth. To remove dirt you can use some soap. We strictly advice not to use any chemical cleaning agents, since these can cause discolorations.
How do I maintain soft body dolls ?
Soft bodies are manufactured from strainable cotton or velours material and can be washed off damp. Let air dry for a longer time, so that also the filling dries completely. Soft body dolls are NOT suitable for machine washing.
Differences
What is the difference between rooted hair and kanekalon wig ?
Rooted hair is, of it is derived the name, stitched directly into the vinyl head. By means of a special sewing machine the fibers are stung in  from the outside and interlocked inside. Rooted hair is very durable and thus particularly suitably for children for playing.
Wigs from kanekalon resemble the natural appearance of human hair, since fibers are mixed in several similar colors. Because the fibers are thinner than in the rooted hair, also finer hair-styles can be created. The hair fibers are sewn on a fabric cap. The wig is then glued on the head firmly. Collectors usually prefer the natural appearance of the kanekalon-wigs.
For playing, this type of hair can be recommended only conditionally.
Why are some dolls available with legs in flesh or white color ?
This selection concerns only small dolls, for which socks or tights cannot be manufactured or can only be made very difficultly. Instead of socks e.g. a girl in a dirndl dress gets white legs, which look as if it had socks on. On the other hand for example a boy with shorts gets flesh-colored legs.
Repairs
What do I do, if my child cut his Engel-doll's hair (or the hair was otherwise damaged)?
Kanekalon wigs can be replaced when damaged. You find large selection of sizes, colors and styles in our add-on catalog.
If we are to replace the kanekalon wig of your doll, send us the undressed doll. We remove the old wig expertly, and glue a new wig on.
Unfortunately, we can no longer offer replacement of rooted hair.
Where can I have my Engel doll repaired ?
Engel dolls are manufactured in very good quality and repairs occur extremely rarely. If your Engel doll should nevertheless require a repair, you can send it to us for restoration. Engel dolls are manufactured in our own factory in Germany. Therefore we have most spare parts on hand or we can make these within short time, and of course our manufacturing team is qualified also for any repair work on your Engel doll.
For older models we are glad to clarify with you whether we can implement a repair before you send it in.
Can I send dolls for repair which are not manufactured by Engel-Dolls ?
On most doll models we can clarify with you, whether we can accomplish a repair, before you send us the doll, or if not, we can sometimes give recommendations where you can have your doll repaired.
If it is necessary to receive your doll at our factory to judge whether we can do the repair, we will charge a fee for the examination and the return freight, if a repair is not performed or not possible.
What do I have to consider when sending a doll ?
Please pack your doll in white wrapping paper or a blank plastic bag first. Printing-ink of newsprint or multicolored plastic bags can leave ugly marks, which can not be removed anymore from your doll. Pack the in-wound doll in a sturdy cardboard box. If your doll consists of a sensitive material, e.g. porcelain, paper mache or celluloid, you should use soft pad material. We recommend to make the dispatch by insured parcel. Thus you receive an admission proof and your doll is automatically insured with a basic amount against loss or damage. With valuable dolls we recommend an additional value insurance.
On which costs do I have to count for the repair?
Doll repairs are pure hand work and are charged by expenditure of time and material. For some procedures, we can give approximate costs by our experience, for other repairs an exact forecast is rarely possible. For all repair orders, please remember the transport expenses which are added to the repair price.
